FEES & FUNDRAISING REQUIREMENTS: Each person in a team needs to pay a £100 entry fee when they sign up. You need to raise £750 as a team before departure at the end of July.

VEHICLE: You can use a team member's own vehicle or buy one especially for the rally. YOU CAN TAKE ANY VEHICLEYOU WANT! This can cost as much or as little as you like and you can split the cost between everyone in your team.

Remember, this will be on top of your individual £750 fundraising commitment and the cost of the car cannot be subtracted from it. You may need to have a small contingency fund available for maintenance/repairs.

PETROL: Obviously this is dependent upon how far you plan to travel and the type of vehicle. As a rough figure, we recommend you budget for around £400.

VISAS: Again, this is totally dependent on the countries you intend to visit. You do not need visas to travel to any country in the European Union. Our friends at BONHEUR OUTSOURCING are offering a visa service specifically for U Rally to help secure your visas for other countries.

CARNET DE PASSAGE (ONLY ESSENTIAL FOR EGYPT, and some other African countries):This is essentially a visa for your vehicle, indicating to the various authorities that you will not be importing the vehicle permanently into a country, and acts as a form of insurance/bond should the vehicle not leave the country.Cost varies according to your route and the method of security you use, but budget around £500. Again, this is a cost for the car and can be split between your individual team members.

OTHER COSTS TO CONSIDER:

Accommodation - tent anyone?

Food - tin opener anyone?

Ferries - unless you have the dollar for an amphibious vehicle!

Flights/Trains - if you leave your car on your travels.

This might seem like a lot; however, if you are smart about this, you can get a lot of other people to cover these costs and actually end up spending very little. You also have many months to get this done.

How can we raise funds & what are we allowed
to fundraise for?

Back Up

You can fundraise directly for the team contribution of £750 and for your entry fees; both are donations to PEAS.

You can raise funds to cover other costs as long as it is made explicit the money is not going directly to PEAS. For example, you could ask a sponsor to pay for your petrol, on the grounds you need it to get you and your car around the continent and in return you could cover your car in their stickers. Or you could have a house party and charge people an entry fee to raise money for your car. You could even go as far as getting a food company to sponsor you by providing food etc.

Essentially, if you are a bit savvy about it, the rally could end up costing you very little! U Rally will support you in your fundraising and send out a pack after you have signed-up full of some great fundraising ideas.

Can teachers fundraise in their schools?

Back Up

Yes, if you are a teacher. Otherwise it might be a little weird (you should also clear this with your school). Be creative and remember you are raising money for an education charity so get your school on board; sell one inch squares on your cars that students can sign, or stick their photo on and charge them £2. Have a home clothes day. Shave your hair off. The money will make itself with the right approach.

What happens if we don't raise enough?

Back Up

You simply cannot sign up if you don't pay the £100 entry fee, although you can fundraise this money back. If you haven't raised the £750 before you set off, you may be allowed to continue but will be asked to pledge to fulfil your commitment when you return. However, if you are worried about raising the funds get in touch and we will try our hardest to help you out.
