The Laws of U Rally

(1) Competition & Dates

The U Rally Championship runs from the 1st August to the 28th August. This is the window when U Rally Championship points can be scored (U Points). Obviously you can keep travelling afterwards, however, you will need to have submitted an estimate of the final number of points you think you have got (excluding competition challenges) by the 28th August with a list of the challenges you achieved. You are then required to submit all of your evidence by the 1st September. All of the challenges have their own rules, check the challenges section for the full list of challenge rules for both the Pub Story and Postcard Challenge rules, as well as the criteria for our other 'Cups and Trophies'.

(2) Points

Teams score U Points by completing Pub Story Challenges and Postcard Challenges as detailed on the U Rally website and in the downloadable U Rally Bible PDF. Additional secret challenges will be released in the run-up to the event.

(3) Prizes

There will be some great prizes up for grabs for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the main championship. These will be awarded to the teams with the most points after the evidence has been judged and presented at the After U Party celebration evening in October (date tbc). There are also some additional prizes being given out, please check the 'Cups and Trophies' section of the website for more details.

(4) Submission of evidence

All evidence must be submitted by the 1st September. Evidence sent after this date will not be included. You can submit evidence in four ways; e-mail files, USB stick, DVD/CD, link to YouTube. You can submit the evidence on the rally bit by bit, or do it all at once on your return. It is very important that all files are titled in the proper format however you send them, or they will not be included. This is the format for evidence submission: Team name, Challenge code, Location, No. Points claimed. For example: U Dogs, M12, Hungary, 66pts. You will receive all of the challenge codes in a challenge log book before the start of the event. In adjudicating your claim the judges may add or subtract bonus points to your claim or in some cases not count the submission at all. USB sticks will be returned within one month.

(5) Judging

The evidence will be examined and judging will take place during September and the final championship table will be unveiled at the After U Party celebration evening in October (date tbc).

(6) Legal Issues

After signing-up to the rally you will be required to sign a legally binding acceptance of responsibility for your own health, unforeseen expenses, and conduct during the event. Teams are also responsible for insuring themselves against potential risks. Through the process of submitting evidence, participants transfer rights to reuse photos and videos for future marketing purposes.

(7) Fundraising

To join the rally you will have to pay a non-refundable sum of £100 per person at the time of sign-up. If this payment does not clear your place will not be reserved. You can fundraise for this £100. You can add additional team members at a later date, but they too will have to pay the £100 sign-up fee. Your team is then required to raise £750 by the launch date. U Rally will support teams in this and provide them with fundraising ideas as well as a fundraising pack. Any team that fails to raise the £750 by August the 1st may not be able to participate in the event. You may also fundraise or find sponsors to support your additional costs, for example, fuel, as long as it is made clear that those charities are going to you and not to the charity.

(8) Disqualification

Should the judging panel find evidence of foul play or cheating an immediate investigation will ensue and could result in possible disqualification of the team in question. The same applies for teams that bring U Rally into disrepute.

(9) Rule Changes

Rules and challenges are subject to change at the discretion of U Rally.
